FORT MYERS, Fla.- Lee County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 15000 block of Laguna Hills Drive on Monday in reference to a burglary that took place while the 72-year-old homeowner was inside the residence.
The victim stated she ehard a loud bang outside her home and opened the door leading to her garage. There, she saw a man holding her bicycle. He dropped the bike and the victim asked him why he was in her open garage and where he lived. The suspect pointed toward Gladiolus Dr. and then fled. He then cut through a neighbor's yard, toward Bass Road.
According to the report, the victim did not immediately call 911 because she was frightened. She called her daughter instead. Her daughter then called LCSO. There was about a 20 minute delay in between the tiem the burglary took place and the time deputies arrived. Officers canvassed the area with negative results.
The suspect is described by the witness as being 5'8, 160 lbs. with short, "bushy" hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and khaki shorts. The victim stated the suspect had something in his hand resembling an iPod or cell phone.
Lawn maintenance crews were doing work in the area at the time, but did not see any suspicious individuals.
