LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- Blake Albritton, 24, and Kayla Cortez, 20, face grand theft charges after allegedly stealing a credit card reader and Ronald McDonald Charity box from a Lehigh Acres McDonald's early Friday morning.
A deputy was flagged down near the McDonald's at 2:55 a.m.
The witness who alerted the officer saw a gold vehicle speeding out of the parking lot and identified it as being involved in the theft. The deputy followed the vehicle until it crashed into a ditch, north of Business Way. Four occupants of the vehicle were detained for questioning.
Two employees were working at the time of the theft. Both witnessed the crime and one was taken back to the site of the crash, where she was able to positively identify the suspects.
