Motorcyclist injured in Cape Coral crash

CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A serious accident with injuires left Santa Barbara Blvd. blocked at Veterans in Cape Coral.

At 9:35 Tuesday morning, a motorcycle was heading eastbound on Veterans Pkwy. when witnesses say he ran a red light and hit a Chevy heading southbound on Santa Barbara.

The Chevy then crossed over the median and hit another Chevy going north.

The driver of motorcycle suffered life threatening injuries and was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital where he is currently in surgery and listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Chevy suffered minor injuries and was transported to Cape Coral Hospital.

The driver of the blue Chevy was not injured and refused medical attention.

The crash does not appear to be alcohol or drug related. The motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the traffic crash.

The case is pending further investigation, but it does not appear to be criminal in nature. 

The road was reopened at 11:45 a.m., after being treated as a crime scene.
