LEE COUNTY, FL - With heavy rains dumped on our area courtesy of Tropical Storm Isaac, the potential for an invasion of mosquitoes is looming. So Lee County's Mosquito Control is working to find and destroy the larvae of the biting pests. Crews are monitoring the entire county looking for standing water and any signs of the bugs. Aerial spraying is already underway and trucks with sprayers have been going through neighborhoods. From egg to adult, it takes mosquitoes 7 to 8 days to mature. The effort, according to experts is to find and kill the bugs before they start to fly. There is some good news though, experts say there has been no sign of West Nile Virus in our area.
