FORT MYERS, Fla.- On Friday at 7:06 a.m., the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a shooting at 3701 Sabal Palm Boulevard #J17. The caller stated that her ex-boyfriend shot her new boyfriend.
Upon arrival police located 35-year-old David Watson, of Lehigh Acres, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital with a non-life-threatening injury.
The police investigation revealed that Watson was inside of the apartment sleeping with his girlfriend when they were awakened by someone banging on a window and the front door. Watson got up and went to the window and found 19-year-old Jamarius Causey, of Fort Myers, attempting to enter the apartment.
Watson and Causey began to argue and during the confrontation, Watson was shot. Causey fled the scene.
Police located Causey a short time later and he was taken into custody without incident. Police arrested Causey for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, burglary and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
