TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a Florida black bear on a military base in the Panhandle.
    
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission spokesman Stan Kirkland says the bear was shot multiple times Monday at Tyndall Air Force Base.
    
Kirkland tells The News Herald (http://bit.ly/RPK4wa ) that the female, 150-pound bear had two cubs that should be old enough to survive on their own.
    
The bear's carcass was taken to a state lab in Gainesville for a necropsy. Both state wildlife and Air Force authorities are investigating.
    
Killing a Florida black bear can bring either misdemeanor or felony charges. No one has been arrested, though Kirkland said investigators have spoken with a suspect.
