LEE COUNTY, Fla. - A 16-year-old South Fort Myers High student is in serious condition at Tampa General Hospital after a hit and run crash in San Carlos Park, just before 6:15 Thursday morning.  Florida Highway Patrol says Keisha Bien-Aime was waiting for the school bus at the intersection of Sanibel Road and Geranium Road when a pickup truck hit her and fled the scene.

According to the FHP, the driver of a red pickup truck, travelling east on Sanibel Road, veered off the road and hit Bien-Aime with the front and right side of the truck. The impact knocked the teen to the ground. Witnesses told FHP, the driver fled the scene, driving east on Sanibel Road.

Bien-Aime was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital and then flown to Tampa General Hospital by MEDSTAR.

The Department of Transportation says that there has been only one run-off-the-road incident reported at the intersection of Sanibel Blvd. and Geranium Road in the last five years, and nothing more.

FHP says the truck involved in this morning's incident should have damage to the front and/or right side.

Anyone with information about this crash should call SGT. Cooper at (239) 344-1745.
