TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Florida is releasing a list of more than 180,000 registered voters who may be ineligible to vote.
    
The state drew up the list last year to try to identify voters who may not be U.S. citizens.
    
State election officials whittled the list down to 2,600 names that it sent to county election officials for possible removal from the voting rolls. That effort came under fire because hundreds of voters turned out to be citizens.
    
State election officials insist that the original larger list is obsolete and instead plan to use a federal immigration database to screen the remaining 2,600 names.
    
But the state was ordered by a federal judge to hand over the list to the federal government. Media organizations and voting rights groups have also asked for the list.
