NORTH NAPLES, Fla.- A homicide investigation under way on Flame Vine Drive. Concetta Bedell was found dead on her porch around 6:45 a.m.
Investigators want to question 44-year-old Lawrence Joseph MacDonald. He is reportedly a ex-boyfriend, whom Bedell had a no contact order against.
His last known address is in Lee County and deputies are asking for the public's help in finding him.
"I heard three gunshots, and then I wasn't really sure if they were gushots because I never heard them before, but it sounded like gunshots," said Carol Delaurentis, a neighbor.
Like many of her neighbors who heard gunfire early this morning, Delaurentis did not report them to authorities.
"There was nothing after that, so I felt funny calling the police because I've been here 30 years and never had a problem," Delaurentis said.
That was around 1:30 a.m. and it wasn't until five hours later that someone on Flame Vine Drive walked onto the back porch and discovered 44-year-old Bedell dead.
Collier County Sheriff's deputies say the hunt is now on for MacDonald.
"According to our reports, they lived together roughly a month in the year 2011 as boyfriend and girlfriend, and the injunction itself is for domestic violence," said Captain Chris Roberts of the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
Neighbors are saddened to learn of Bedell's death and that the commotion they heard was really a worst case scenario.
