FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida bicyclist has lost her fight against a ticket issued for riding outside a bike lane in Weston.

Molli Serrano was the only cyclist ticketed in March when she and a few dozen others left the bike lane to pass a slower rider during an early morning ride.

During a hearing last month, Deputy Dominic Raimondi said he stopped Serrano because she stood out in her purple riding gear. The South Florida SunSentinel (http://sunsent.nl/Qi1uBr ) reports Serrano is a cancer survivor who wears purple to bring awareness to pancreatic cancer.

In a six-page ruling, Broward County Magistrate Brenda Di Ioia found Serrano guilty, but withheld adjudication.

Serrano told the newspaper she'll pay the $125 fine. But Serrano says she still believes it was "a misapplication of the law."
