PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's Narcotics Unit detectives Tuesday arrested a second employee at a Port Charlotte doctor’s office that was calling in false prescriptions for herself. Stacy Lunn Vuolo, 40, of 18096 Bracken Circle, was arrested and charged with four felony counts of Prescription Fraud.
On July 3, Dr. Saligrama Bhat of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine on Harbor Boulevard contacted CCSO to report he believed two of his employees were using his DEA number to obtain fraudulent pain medication scripts. Dr. Bhat told Narcotics detectives Vuolo and Fashauer were employees he entrusted with his DEA number to call in scripts for his patients and at no time did he ever consent to them calling in scripts for themselves.
As a result of the investigation, detectives on July 23 arrestedTara Marie Fashauer, 29, 2435 Linton Lane, Port Charlotte, for illegally obtaining Hydrocodone pills eight times at the Port Charlotte K-Mart Pharmacy. She too was arrested for Prescription Fraud and posted bond.
Further investigation revealed that Vuolo had also been calling in false prescriptions for Hydrocodone to the CVS Pharmacy at Tamiami Trail and Midway Drive in Port Charlotte. A pharmacist positively identified Vuolo as the person who picked up the prescriptions four times from Dec. 30, 2011 to June 7 of this year. Vuolo was located this afternoon, arrested, and transported to the Charlotte County Jail where bond was set at $10,000.
Anyone with knowledge of illegal drug activity is asked to please call the CCSO Narcotics Unit at 941-575-2157, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
