PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff’s Economic Crimes Unit detectives arrested Robert Andrew “Rob” Zobel, 42, owner of R. Zobel Property Management, Inc., in connection with an ongoing fraud investigation.
Zobel turned himself in to detectives after an investigation that began in June when an Englewood woman said Zobel and his girlfriend of the unlicensed company, pocketed $600 cash in deposit money to rent a Deep Creek home. The New York owner of the home said she had not been receiving previous rental monies for her home and terminated the agreement with Zobel.
Zobel was charged with Grand Theft and Operating Without a Valid Real Estate License in connection with the Englewood woman’s case. Yesterday his assistant and girlfriend, Crystal Leigh Stott, 31, was arrested. Detectives have not been able to locate Zobel to talk to him until today. Zobel is being processed at the Charlotte County Jail at this time; bond was set at $5,000.
ECU detectives believe several other renters-owners in Charlotte County may have been victims of this fraud and may not know it. If anyone has had contact with R. Zobel Property Management, Inc., as a renter or owner, please call the CCSO at 941-639-2101.
