ENGLEWOOD EAST, Fla.- Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives continue solving a rash of “car hopping” and home burglaries in the Englewood East and Rotonda West areas. The incidents occurred at the end of June and early July. More arrests and more charges are expected as detectives continue their investigations.

Last week, detectives arrested a sister and brother, Chrystal Mae Koerbel, 24, of 7-A Manor Court, and Jonathan Allen Koerbel, 20, of 900 Oxford Drive. Both were charged in connection with a July 6 burglary to a home in the 100 block of Wayne Road, Rotonda West. The third person involved was 25-year-old Chad Michael Hayes. Chrystal Koerbel, Chad Hayes’ fiancée, drove her brother and Hayes to the home. Jonathan Koerbel and Hayes entered the unlocked home and stole a 55-inch television, numerous other electronics including two cell phones, a computer and a purse, valued at $2,300.

All three were charged with Burglary and Grand Theft; Chrystal Koerbel was additionally charged with Dealing in Stolen Property. Hayes was served his arrest papers at the Charlotte County Jail where he is being held on $92,500 bond in connection with several other burglary/theft cases. Detectives arrested Hayes July 13 in connection with six counts of vehicle Burglary, three Grand Theft charges, and one count each for Burglary to a Dwelling, Attempted use of a Stolen Credit Card, and Petit Theft, all on Euston Avenue on June 30 in the Englewood East area. The Koerbel’s posted bond and were released from the Charlotte County Jail on July 19.
