PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Wildlife officials say a rare Kemp's Ridley sea turtle has died a week after undergoing surgery to remove hooks from his mouth and intestines and fishing line from his front flipper.
    
The turtle died Wednesday at Gulf World in Panama City Beach. The staff had named him Capt. Hook.
    
The News Herald of Panama City (http://bit.ly/LYwkQl ) reports a fisherman found the turtle floating in the water July 3 and called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Wildlife officials took him to Gulf World where surgery was performed.
    
Dr. Lydia Staggs says the fishing line severed the turtle's right flipper. She says that injury likely kept the turtle from recovering.
