SANIBEL, Fla.- The search continues for a black bear on Sanibel Island. It was spotted late Monday morning. It had been spotted three other times this past weekend.

The sightings have been primarily in residential areas and near Lighthouse Beach.

The bear has never come close enough to threaten a human, but law enforcement isn't taking the sightings lightly. They've posted signs throughout the island warning beach-goers of an additional and unwanted visitor. 

As residents and visitors enjoy the Sanibel sun, sighting reports are rolling into the police department of a florida black bear. The bear was spotted at least three times over the weekend.

FWC set a trap this weekend. So far, the trap has not been disturbed.
Fish and Wildlife authorities are hoping to relocate the bear, possibly to the Everglades.

This is the same black bear that has been randomly seen on the island since July of last year. 

Visitors on Lighthouse Beach said they were grateful for the warning.
