FORT MYERS, Fla.- On Wednesday, the Fort Myers Police Department released a sketch of a man suspected of a recent sexual battery in hopes someone in the community will recognize him.

The crime happened in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the female victim’s home located in Central Fort Myers.

The suspect broke into the victim’s home.

The victim was sleeping in her bedroom when she was awakened by the suspect. A short struggle ensued, the sexual battery occurred and the suspect fled the scene.

Police believe the crime is an isolated incident.

“Based on what the suspect said to the victim during the attack, it leads us to believe he specifically targeted the victim,” said Detective Albert Antonini. “However, it is important to release the sketch and identify the suspect so it doesn’t happen again.”

Police are also working to identify the suspect by evidence left at the scene.
