CAPE CORAL, Fla.- A group of walkers in Cape Coral is waking up early to make sure they're staying healthy. The crew of kids meet at Christa McAuliffe Charter Elementary to walk and run before school starts.

The Mileage Club meets before school because research suggest that children who exercise before school have more energy, pay better attention and are more involved and engaged during school.

We can't change America's obesity overnight, but we can work towards that goal by educating our children on healthy habits.

Students in this club learn how to use pedometers, calculated kilometers into miles, and plot their distance on a map. They are trying to walk from Cape Coral, to Disneyland in California and students really get excited to see our Mickey Mouse moving along the map.

The American Heart Association has donated all the pedometers.
