Lee Sheriff's deputies have arrested a father and son from Cape Coral on charges of odometer tampering.  Investigators say the pair advertised what they could do, to turn back mileage on vehicles.

"That is outrageous, not to mention illegal and immoral," said veteran mechanic Steve Johnson of Terry Wynter Auto Service in Ft. Myers.   "I know that any electronics can be hacked, but it must take a very sophisticated type of device to do it.   It's very difficult with the digital chips that control odometers in cars for the past 10 years or so."

Deputies arrested Doug and Austin Craig on Tuesday afternoon.   Each faces a third-degree felony charge, punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Deputies nabbed the pair after an under-cover officer met the pair, and heard their pitch to turn back mileage for 100 dollars.
