CAPE CORAL, FL - On Friday 4/6/2012, Cape Coral's city council approved city staff taking part in a county auction for 491 parcels of land in Cape Coral. The properties span 652 acres across the northwest section of the city. Cape Coral city officials bid $13,080,100.00 to beat the next highest bid of 10 million dollars. Councilman Marty McClain says the land will be useful in the future when the utilities expansion project starts again. But some residents are concerned that there was not enough notice of Friday's special meeting where council voted to move forward with a bid on the county auction. They are concerned that they did not have a voice in the decision.
