Letter Carrier Melanie Pierce was dropping off mail at the Driftwood condos Monday when she heard something startling. "I heard someone call out. I kept saying where are you, where you. which unit are you in?" Eventually, Pierce, discovered 91-year old Rosario Richardson on the ground. He has parkinson's and dementia and could not get up. Pierce says her adrenaline kicked in, "I didn't know what to do because I never literally had to save someone." The Letter Carrier picked the 91-year old up off a bed of heavy rocks and called 911. She stayed with him until Paramedics arrived. Richardson is ok today. His wife is thankful to their quick thinking Letter Carrier. The Post Master General is sending Pierce a letter congratulating her for a job well done.
