NORTH NAPLES, Fla -- Firefighters have contained a 25 acre fire in North Naples. The fire broke out around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon near the the gated communities of Mediterra and Imperial just off Old 41.

Becky Toole, a resident in Imperial says, "it was very scary. I thought their house was for sure gone, it was a very scary moment."

The fire threatened half a dozen homes on Princess Court in Imperial.

Toole says, "I saw the smoke in the afternoon and looked out my sons bedroom window and just saw a sheet of fire across the street from my house and at that point just started getting everything that was valuable out of my home."

A home video taken by a resident inside Imperial shows rushing toward homes.

Scott Toth says, "most people here earlier saw some pretty horrific stuff. The video we took earlier shows the fire came right up to the fence to the community and right at that point the wind took it in the direction of Mediterra."

About 20 homes were ordered a voluntary evacuation as fire crews battled the smoke and flames for nearly four hours.

Amy Manley says, "my husband said to me, I think they're going to evacuate us pretty soon, don't even bother coming home, what do you want? I couldn't think of anything that important as long as the kids and the animals got out of the house."

Some neighbors said the smoke got inside their homes, but there aas minimal damage.

Manley says, "we were so fortunate The wind turned when it did I don't think there was any damage at all."

Investigators have left the scene for the night, but they will be back first thing Wednesday morning.

At this time, the fire is considered suspicious.
