LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Boston Red Sox pitcher Bobby Jenks was arrested in Lee County on Friday for suspicion of driving under the influence, damaging property and leaving the scene of the crime.
A witness observed Jenks driving a Mercedes Benz SUV on a sidewalk. When officers stopped him and asked if he knew why he was being pulled over, he responded, "Probably because I was all over the road back there."
Jenks told deputies that he had taken too many muscle relaxers and that he was leaving Babe's after hitting a vehicle.
The arrest report states that during field sobriety tests, Jenks told deputies, "I'm going to fail it" and "I'm messed up."
CBS out of Boston reported that the 31-year-old has had problems with alcohol in the past, though he said in 2010 that he had quit drinking.
