CAPE CORAL, Fla.- On Tuesday at 10:30 p.m., Cape Coral Police responded to a reported armed robbery at the Domino’s Pizza located at 1609 Andalusia Blvd.

Employees reported seeing a man lurking behind the store around 10:00 p.m. and went out to investigate. They did not locate the suspicious man and went back inside to close up for the night.

Twenty minutes later, a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and armed with a pistol entered the store. The suspect pointed the gun at the employees and demanded the money. The employee who was tallying the register gave the robber an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect turned and began to run from the business when another employee jumped on top of him. The two struggled as they made their way to the back door of the business.

The robber dropped the gun during the struggle as the two barreled outside into the alleyway. Cape Coral Police arrived moments later and placed handcuffs on the robber, later identified as Ronnie Dale Brown of Cape Coral. Officers had Brown detained near the front of the store waiting on EMS to arrive to have him checked out when he shoved away from officers and tried to run away. He got approximately 5 feet away and was struck with a Taser and re-captured.

Ronnie Dale Brown was arrested on charges of Robbery with a Firearm and Resisting Arrest. He remains in the Lee County Jail today without bond.

“We really don’t recommend that our victims engage in a physical confrontation with suspects; however this case worked out in the good guys’ favor. We’d prefer that you call 911 and let us handle it. In spite of that, the partnership between CCPD and the citizens last night took a violent criminal off of our streets,” said Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
