FORT MYERS, Fla.- Fort Myers is getting inked! The first tattoo convention is making its way into downtown this weekend. This is just one stop on a nationwide tour. The event takes place at the Harborside Convention Center.

Over 165 tattoo artists from all over the country have set up make shift studios at Harborside. In anticipation of this weekend, many of these artists have had appointments booked for the last several months.

This is only the second convention this group has put on since the new tattoo regulations went into effect this year, mandating that all tattoo parlors and artists go through stringent safety regulations and pass through a licensing process.

Despite it being a new event in Fort Myers, organizers are expecting between six and eight thousand people to come through the doors this weekend. They say about sixty percent of those will leave with a tattoo. If you're not in the market for some ink, they'll also have plenty of other activities for the whole family.

The convention costs $20 for one day or $35 for the entire weekend. Concerts are included in the price.
