LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- The Lee County Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who stole a veteran's service dog.

Police were called to the 3300 block of Unice Avenue S. after the 25-year-old victim stated his $1000-Husky dog was missing from his backyard.

The brown and white dog was given to him for PTSD by the Veterans Association.

The victim went to the grocery store for less than an hour and returned to find his dog was no longer secured in the back yard. Deputies observed that by the way the dog had been chained up, there was no way for him to have accidentally escaped.

There are no witnesses, but the investigation continues.
