NAPLES, Fla -- WINK News uncovers a Naples Real Estate broker arrested for stealing rent money from clients is now accused of ripping off contractors too.

41-year-old Theresia Helton was arrested last week for allegedly renting out a Bonita Springs condo without telling the owner. She collected more than $4,000 in rent, deposits and fees.

After that first story aired, another woman came forward. She tells WINK News Helton hired her for a job, but to this day she's never been paid.

Susan Thomas says she reached out to Theresia Helton and 1010 Apartments, Inc. When she first moved to Naples back in 2010. "I gave her deposit money, but I never got a place and the money I gave her, it was gone," says Thomas.

Helton told Susan her application was denied and therefore she would not get her nearly $1,000 deposit back. "I was nieve. I let it go. I figured that's how it works over here," Thomas said.

Since our story last week aired, she reached out to attorney Marc Shapiro. He says, "I have never seen an application fee that was non-refundable for $1,000."

Susan tells WINK News Helton contacted her several months later, promising to give her deposit back if she helped with an interior design project. "She asked me to help her with getting that painted, fixed up, accessorized and that invoice was close to $1,600," Thomas said.

Susan says that she never saw that money either. "Now that this has come out that she was arrested for this same thing that I saw with my own two eyes, that she did to me, it now makes sense that I was taken advantage of," said Thomas.

WINK News stopped by Helton's home to get comment but she didn't answer the door. WINK News also went to her office on Radio Road. Last week she had a 1010 Apartments sign was on her door. Monday she had changed the sign to Naples 2 Estero Sales and Rentals.

Helton has filed for a public defender, but has not yet been assigned one.
