FORT MYERS, Fla. - For the 74th year, Southwest Floridians were dazzled by the sights and sounds of the Edison Festival of Light Grand Parade.
Thousands lined the city streets for the 2-hour-long event, which started at Fort Myers High School and worked its way downtown. According to organizers, it's the largest night parade in the Southeast.
For the Bayshore Elementary School Cloggers, their parade performance is the result of weeks of hard work.
"We've been doing it since October, every weekend," says Christy Payne, with the dance group.
The group has racked up the parade miles for 25 years and says the reason why is simple.
"The crowd will start yelling and start dancing with them, and that really gets them going even more," says Payne.
That interaction is why Littleton Elementary's Lariats and Lace dancers has come back to participate year after year.
"It kind of feels like you're famous," says Abigail Kreller, a dancer with the group. "It's like everybody's looking at you and cheering for you."
