PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- Festivities were in full swing in Port Charlotte today for the 19th annual Greek Fest.
Chefs whipped up traditional Greek fare while dancers in ethnic costumes taught festival-goers traditional Greek dances.
Organizers say the community event raises money for the church and helps non-greeks get a glimpse into their culture.
"People outside the community that want to learn about the Greek culture they come here to do it. But its also about our community people want to get involved and this is a way for everybody to participate from young to old," said co-chair Jim Sanders.
Greek fest will continue Sunday from 11-9 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Port Charlotte.
