PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla.- A Charlotte County Sheriff's deputy arrested a Port Charlotte man after he was found passed out the second time Wednesday for inhaling chemicals from aerosol cans in Port Charlotte. Jacob Corson Moore, 21, of 28001 Riddle Avenue was arrested.
CCSO received a call at 1:46 p.m. from a woman who found a man passed out in some bushes and said there was an aerosol can beside him in the 21100 block of Olean Boulevard. When the deputy arrived, EMS was on scene; Moore refused treatment. The empty can was located and placed into evidence. Moore was not observed inhaling the aerosol can contents and was released.
At 5 p.m. a deputy was flagged down by a citizen at Promenades Mall, who said a white male was passed out in the bushes in the parking lot with a spray can. The deputy located Moore who was lying on his side with an aerosol can of spray in his hand. He was unconscious and had vomited. The deputy was able to wake Moore up and he appeared to be under the influence of something.
Moore said, “I was using this can to escape from here; I’m okay now. I huff the can because it’s a quick way to escape from everything.”
EMS arrived and Moore again refused treatment. EMS personnel advised this was the fifth time they have been out with Moore in the past week for the same thing, and the second time Wednesday. Moore advised that after the first call, he bought another can at the mall from an electronics store so he could get high again.
This time Moore was arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail. He was charged with misdemeanor Inhalation of a Harmful Chemical Substance. He remains in jail on a $500 bond.
