OCALA, Fla. (AP) - An explosion at an equine rehabilitation center in north Florida's horse country has killed a worker and a horse.
The explosion Friday at the Kesmarc Equine Rehabilitation Center in Marion County killed 28-year-old Erica Marshall. Another worker was airlifted to Shands Hospital in Gainesville with serious injuries.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office reports that the workers were in a high-oxygen chamber with the horse as part of the animal's rehabilitation. Something caused a spark, which then triggered the explosion.
State and local fire officials are investigating the cause.
