CAPE CORAL, Fla.- On Thursday, Terry Ragland was convicted of Second Degree Murder with a Firearm, Attempted Home Invasion Robbery and First Degree Burglary while Armed. He will be sentenced at a later date.
On July 10, 2010 Cape Coral Police responded to a report of a home invasion robbery in which the homeowner was shot by the suspects. Eric Stuebinger was killed by a gunshot wound to the chest by two masked robbers.
The two masked men struggled with Stuebinger in the home located at 511 NW 2nd Avenue as the suspects were demanding money and drugs. Stuebinger was fighting to protect his ex-girlfriend and their 17-month-old son who were in the home.
After Stuebinger was shot, the gunmen then fled the home. During the struggle with Stuebinger, the mask came off of one of the suspect’s face and a description was obtained.
Cape Coral Major Crimes Detectives began investigating the homicide with very limited information. Through painstaking work and investigation, Detectives developed Terry Ragland and Timothy Wayne Tuttle Jr. as suspects in the robbery and homicide.
Both Ragland and Tuttle Jr. were located and arrested for the crime in 2010.
