GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Officials say a fraternity at the University of Florida has been suspended for hazing and is under investigation by campus police.
University spokeswoman Janine Sikes says Alpha Phi Alpha was suspended after a student suffered injuries in what officials said was "serious physical hazing" over the weekend.
UF President Bernie Machen sent a letter to all students Tuesday, saying that the school will not tolerate hazing.
The recent incident at UF happened three months after a Florida A&M University student band member died in what police said was hazing.
