HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (AP) - A man suspected in the slaying of his girlfriend in Pennsylvania has been arrested at a Florida casino.
Seminole Tribal Police spokesman Gary Bitner says an officer spotted 32-year-old Edwin Carrero acting suspiciously in a car early Tuesday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Bitner tells the Sun Sentinel (http://sunsent.nl/xyW75W ) that a record's check revealed the car and its tag were stolen. The car was registered to Alicia Schmidt of Pottstown, Pa., who was found dead Thursday.
Carrero was booked into the Broward County jail on a charge of grand theft auto with a $1,000 bond. He also is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania where he faces first- and third-degree murder charges.
Police say they discovered Schmidt's body after Carrero told his ex-wife that he "may have killed Alicia."
