FORT MYERS, Fla.- Contractors are making major strides in the renovation of a family amusement park in Fort Myers.
Construction on the original Zoomers park stopped when the project went into foreclosure in 2007. Now, new owners are getting the park ready to finally open this spring.
Demolition is the first major step in this very detailed process of making over what has been described by some as an eye sore along Summerlin. It was out with the old and in with the new as bulldozers began demolishing the elevated race track to make room for a brand new slick track.
Within seven to ten days, the current track will no longer exist. Going up in its place are two additional tracks, a mini golf course and bumper boats.
The owners of Zoomers say the project should be complete for customers by early April. Area businesses are excited for extra traffic to their shops.
Next week is when they will start bringing new equipment in. The park plans to install a tilt-a-whirl ride and begin building a family-friendly rollercoaster.
