LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.- On Saturday, at 2:35 p.m., multiple calls were received about a traffic crash on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres. A motorcycle collided with an SUV while traveling east, near the intersection of Douglas Avenue.
The crash resulted in the motorcyclist being ejected and suffering critical injury. He is identified as 23-year-old Joshua Daniel Baker of Rockford Boulevard, Lehigh Acres. He was transported to Lehigh Regional Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Due to the nature of the incident, a Traffic Homicide Detective with the Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit assumed the investigation.
The detective says a black, 2001 Lexus SUV driven by 53-year-old Rodham Chesnut of Fort Myers was proceeding in the center lane and properly moved over to the right lane. The motorcycle, a 2009, black, Yamaha, was traveling at a higher rate of speed, also in the middle lane. The operator of the motorcycle changed lanes and struck the rear of the SUV. No charges have been filed in the case.
