LEE COUNTY, Fla.- An afternoon traffic stop on I-75 led to a major marijuana bust after a K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics.
On Friday, at 4:30 p.m., a detective conducted the stop of a rented 2010 Chevrolet Suburban after the front seat passenger was observed not wearing a seatbelt. While speaking with the driver and passenger, the detective became suspicious when the two “cousins” inside the vehicle did not know each others' first or last names.
A computer check showed the passenger had prior criminal history for distributing marijuana and six large boxes were visible in the cargo area of the vehicle. The detective’s K9 partner “Cole” was utilized to conduct a free air sniff resulting in confirmation of illegal drugs.
Each of the boxes contained marijuana with an estimated street value of $360,000 dollars (conservatively).
The investigation revealed the suspect was traveling from the Miami area to Bradenton with the intent of delivering the marijuana.
The passenger has been charged as follows:
Khalfani Robb, 31, of 2241 S. Sherman Circle C414 in Miramar, FL:
Trafficking in marijuana over 25 pounds
Possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute
Keeping a shop or vehicle for a controlled substance
