FORT MYERS, Fla. If you ever have those days where you want to leave the hustle and escape on a boat, then you'll probably like John Leben's art. The Michigan artist brought his digital paintings of sailboats and palm trees to ArtFest Fort Myers, one of the largest events in southwest Florida.

"I tried to create a bunch of work that would appeal to an audience here in Florida," said Leben.

65 thousand people are expected to take in thousands of pieces of art during the free two-day event. 217 artists from 37 states line the streets from bridge to bridge in the River District.

"The average person is here about four hours each day" said Sharon McAllister the Executive Director of ArtFest Fort Myers, describing the large gallery.

Getting their work displayed in the show is difficult for the artists. Nearly a thousand of them applied, only a select few were chosen. The event continues Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
