CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - A new study is ranking Florida's Space Coast No. 1 in terms of equality between Hispanics and whites.
The Urban Institute study released Thursday ranked the Palm Bay-Melbourne-Titusville region as the best metro area for equality between Latinos and non-Hispanic whites.
The study looked at residential segregation and compared income, school test scores, employment rates and home ownership between the two groups in the nation's top 100 metro areas.
The Space Coast also ranked high - No. 4 - in terms of equality between whites and blacks.
Other Florida communities also were rated highly in the study.
The Lakeland-Winter Haven area ranked No. 3 for equality between whites and blacks.
Jacksonville ranked No. 4 and the Lakeland-Winter Haven ranked No. 8 for equality between whites and Hispanics.
