FORT MYERS, Fla.- Dueling arts events are creating a stir in Fort Myers. Art Fest is getting a permit from the city for its annual weekend event; Art Fair did not get a permit for this Saturday. Some are angry over that.
"It's not right to be slighted. It hurts and makes me sad," said Claudia Goode, an organizer of the Art Fair.
"Those people knew they did not have a permit for Art Fair on this particular Saturday," said Sharon McCallister, director of Art Fest. "We draw 60,000 people over two days, and we need all the parking and street space available. We cannot have a competing event. That would damage Art Fest."
