COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- All lanes of I-75 near the Collier and Lee County lines have re-opened after an earlier crash.
Take caution, as there is still a lot of slowing moving traffic in the area.
The first vehicle was traveling south on I-75 in the outside lane behind the second vehicle, when the driver of the first fell asleep at the wheel.
As a result, the first vehicle struck the second. After the impact, the first vehicle traveled onto the shoulder and then downhill on a grassy slope into a ditch. It then traveled uphill and struck a barbed wire fence.
The second vehicle rotated counterclockwise through the southbound lanes, entering the paved apron and traveled a couple of feet east onto the grassy median. The right rear passenger of the second vehicle was transported to North Collier Hospital and passed away due to injuries sustained in the crash.
