FORT MYERS, Fla.- On Friday, during the early morning hours, probation officers with the Florida Department of Corrections and officers with the Fort Myers Police Department’s Community Offender Probation and Education (C.O.P.E.) Unit conducted an unannounced house search of probationer.

The joint operation focused on Jamar James, 22, of 959 Polk Street, because of information FMPD received that suggested James and another person were involved in a dispute that could turn violent.

During the search, officers located a Hi-Point model 995TS 9mm rifle and a ski mask.

Officers arrested James for violation of probation. James had been placed on three years probation on October 4, 2011 for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

James has been arrested 15 times as an adult.
