LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Longtime Lee County Clerk of Courts, Charlie Green, is retiring after 27 years on the job.

Green told WINK, the decision has nothing to do with some ethics questions about his recent failure to declare a financial gift to his wife from a local developer.

Green adds it's just time to do something different in his life. He said he may go into real estate.

Green said he will help his chief operating officer, Linda Doggett, win the election to replace him. She's worked for the Clerk of Courts since 1984.
