LEE COUNTY, Fla.- The teen accused of shooting his girlfriend in 2010 is taking the stand to defend himself. Dylan Wisniewski is facing manslaughter charges for the death of Ashlee Swayze in 2010.
For the first time, we are hearing from Wisniewski about what happened the day Ashlee was shot to death. The teen says he was in his room with Swayze when he picked a gun up off his gunrack in his room. He thought it was unloaded. Wisniewski says he pointed it at the wall farthest away from his girlfriend. But she walked in front of the gun while his hand was on the trigger. He says he didn't mean to shoot. He immediately ran to the living room to tell his father.
Swayze's parents were very emotional listening to his testimony.
The defense gave its closing arguments Friday afternoon, with the prosecution to follow. The jury will deliberate and a verdict is expected by this evening.
