FORT MYERS, Fla.- Two people engaged in a major ecstasy producing operation have been arrested. Their operation was brought to an abrupt end during a search warrant conducted by members of the Highway Interdiction Unit and Narcotics/Vice Unit in the Fort Myers area.

On Wednesday, around 1:30 p.m., detectives with the Lee County Sheriff's Office Highway Interdiction Unit conducted a search warrant at 11371 Summerwinds Court in Fort Myers in regards to an active drug investigation. They were assisted by members of the Narcotics/Vice Unit.

The investigation began after a Sheriff’s Office K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics in a package being sent to the Summerwinds Court address. A search of the residence revealed a large scale ecstasy producing operation set up at the location with the capability of producing nearly 15,000 dosages of ecstasy.

Inside the residence, and also inside a vehicle which arrived on scene, detectives located nearly two pounds of amphetamine powder, nearly 600 capsule dosages of already produced ecstasy, approximately 15,000 empty capsules which were going to be filled with amphetamine powder, cutting agents to increase the quantity of the drug, four pharmaceutical grade capsule filling machines already set up from prior productions, measuring spoons, mixing bowls, materials used to package the narcotics, a small amount of marijuana and hydrocodone.

The investigation revealed the main suspect was selling the ecstasy throughout Lee County, as well as in other parts of Florida.

At a street value of nearly $20.00 per dosage, the total seized amount of ecstasy potential dosages would have been well over $200,000 if the ecstasy was made as intended for distribution on the street.
