COLLIER COUNTY, Fla -- A Collier County firefighter has died and a second is in serious condition following a motorcycle crash that happened last Friday night.

Wednesday, 25-year-old Justin Petrucelli died from injuries sustained in the crash. He and 33-year-old Joseph O'Callaghan were riding their Harley Davidson motorcycles in Golden Gate Estates Friday. Deputies say O'Callaghan ran into the back of Petrucelli's motorcycle and both were ejected. Deputies say alcohol was a factor.

Both Petrucelli and O'Callaghan worked at the Big Corkscrew Island Fire Department in eastern Collier County. The crew at station 10 was visibly shaken by the tragic news.

Petrucelli had just celebrated his five year anniversary at the department on January 2.

Fire Chief Rita Greenberg says, "Justin was a very energetic, fun, outgoing person." She says, "his character and charisma stood out in the crowd. Justin was an all around great person and a great asset to the community."

Greenberg says the crew at the fire house are very broken right now. Not only have they lost one brother, but they have a second colleague recovering at Lee Memorial Hospital.

O'Callaghan is listed in serious condition.

Petrucelli's family is still working on funeral arrangements at this time.
