MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A Navy training mine found on Miami Beach is being removed.
A perimeter was established once Fire Rescue arrived at the scene Monday morning. Spokesman Jesus Sola says photos were taken and sent to the Navy, which will remove the device that is six feet long and 2 feet in diameter.
Sola says the mine is "still live" but it is not as explosive as a regular mine.
The bomb squad is also on the scene. It was not immediately known how this mine washed ashore.
