COLLIER COUNTY, Fla.- Professional racecar driver Michael Cenzi has teamed up with the Collier County Sheriffs Office to stop distracted driving.  The campaign is called "Stay focused:  Don't text and drive."

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk has teamed up with Cenzi, along with AAA and The Auto Club South Traffic Safety Foundation, for a series of public service announcements discouraging the use of cell phones while driving.

According to the National Transportation Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 5,474 people were killed in crashes involving a driver distraction in 2009.

Michael Cenzi is a graduate of Palmetto Ridge High School and says he wants to reach out to teen drivers who are more likely to be involved in a fatal accident because of cell phone distractions.  Cenzi will speak at high schools throughout Collier County.

He is also expected to make several appearances with Sheriff Rambosk,  The two will team up at the City or Naples Christmas Parade on December 6th.
