LEE COUNTY, Fla.- Authorities are searching for Mindy McCready. The country singer still has not turned over her 5-year-old son, Zander. A Lee County judge signed a pick-up order Thursday and this is now considered a parental abduction.
The FBI is set to release a missing person flier of Zander McCready. Even though the boy is with his mother, authorities do not know where they are.
Thursday at 4 o'clock, a Lee County judge signed a court order demanding Mindy turn over her son. She has not, so she is now violating a court order.
McCready's mother, Gayle Inge has legal custody of Zander. McCready took him somtime in the past week because she says he was in danger living with her mother. Zander has been in Inge's custody for the four years. They live in North Fort Myers and Inge denies any allegations she was harming her grandson.
The Lee County judge means business. By signing that pick-up order it gives authorities across the country control to get Zander and bring him home. If McCready interfers, she could be arrested.
McCready says she can't bring her son home because she's pregnant with twins. Authorities did check her Nashville home, but she wasn't there.
