PUNTA GORDA, Fla.- The Charlotte County Sheriff's Juvenile Operations Unit conducted business alcohol compliance checks Thursday evening of 12 Punta Gorda area businesses located in the county. A total of 11 were in compliance along U.S. 41; one was not and the clerk was arrested.

Deputies charged clerk Barbara Jean Lindstrom, 56, of 6035 Safford St. in Punta Gorda, for Sale of Alcohol to a Person Under 21. She works at the Walgreen’s in Punta Gorda.

Lindstrom sold a six-pack of beer to an Investigative Aide under 21. She asked for identification, an underage driver’s license was presented, but she sold the beer anyway. Lindstrom was transported to the Charlotte County Jail, booked, and release on a $500 bond. The CCSO Juvenile Unit will continue its unannounced checks for alcohol compliance, especially during this holiday season.
