FORT MYERS, Fla.- A shooting has left one dead and two injured, near Dunbar High School, Wednesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, at 12:45 p.m. the Fort Myers Police Department responded to a shooting at 3759 Minnesota Drive. Upon arrival police learned that unknown suspects in a vehicle drove down Dupree Street to its end. One suspect got out of the car and began shooting at the victims located at the home on Minnesota Drive (Dupree Street ends at a canal and Minnesota Drive is located on the other side of the canal). They fled the scene.
Initially police located two victims. Sharod Hayes, 20, of Fort Myers, died on the scene. Keamon Hayes, 19, also of Fort Myers, was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital. The Hayes brothers are sons of a Lee County Sheriff's Office corrections deputy.
Police began canvassing the area and interviewing witnesses and that’s when investigators discovered a third victim. Joshwan Hamilton, 18, of 2550 Jean Marie Ct., was found with a minor gunshot wound to his leg. Hamilton was also transported to the hospital.
Police are still processing the crime scene and the investigation remains active. No arrests have been made and the investigation is still under way.
